VW Polo “Beware The Confidence”

Ogilvy Cape Town launches a new TVC for Volkswagen. Directed by Greg Gray from Romance Films, the TVC, titled Red Flashy Thingy, shows viewers the journey of a young professional who buys the new Volkswagen Polo.

Our artists at Chocolate Tribe collaborated with Bladeworks on this hilarious ad to deliver 3d set extension and replacements. Rudimentary sets were filmed in studio purely as placeholders in order to be replaced in post by the 3d team at Chocolate Tribe and 2d team at Bladeworks.

GLASSWORKS
Huesitos

Chocolate Tribe worked with the talented team of Glassworks Barcelona and German director duo Dvein on this out of the ordinary series of ads for Audible. 3D scans were made of the actor’s heads, rigged in Maya and we then precisely matchmoved ever nuance of motion of their heads.

Dvein then crafted amazing animated facial features with Glassworks to represent each person’s distinct alter-ego.

Virgin Money – “I Love Insurance”

VIRGIN MONEY
“I love Insurance”

Don’t love insurance? We don’t blame you. The Virgin brand has always been about changing business for good and insurance is no different. Insurance is plagued with grudge and discontent. Very simply, people feel like insurance companies don’t treat them like people. It’s up to Virgin Money Insurance to come in and change this.

Chocolate Tribe delivered all shots for 3 full sequences of the ad (3d and compositing). First we added lots of CG money to the opening car accident sequence, then we set a house on fire, and to top it off, we also lit up the lady’s hair across 2 sequences.

KFC “Shark”

KFC – AGENCY: OGILVY JOHANNESBURG
“SHARK”

Australian surfer Mick Fanning’s close encounter with a shark during a surf event in July has been parodied in a commercial by fast food chain KFC in South Africa. Fanning survived a near death experience during the final round of the J-Bay Open on July 19 when a shark attacked him in the water on live television.

The harrowing moment has been recreated by KFC in an ad which sees a Fanning look-a-like also attacked by a shark from behind, with one notable difference. The surfer picks up the shark up and rides a wave holding the creature over his head triumphantly in a moment described as “next level awesome” by the commentators.

MTN Global’s latest brand commercial tells the story of a little boy who discovers, via MTN’s world class internet, that it is very simple to build a homemade radio that will allow him to actually speak to an astronaut in space.

He tries and fails and tries again, using the New World of MTN to embark on a journey of discovery that takes a rather unexpected turn. Because that’s the thing about discovery, there’s always more to discover.
